An avid DIYer, Angela Lerew from Unexpected Elegance has a passion for making a house a home while inspiring sensible style. She recently updated her front door with a unique, navy blue Dutch door featuring Nostalgic Warehouse entry set door hardware.
For over ten years, Angela had wanted to update the front door of her family’s home. Their old door had no window, which led to a very dark entryway. For the update, she chose a beautiful Dutch split-entry door to create a more inviting and brighter entryway. This new door adds character and curb appeal to help the family home stand out in their Indianapolis suburb, where homes tend to look the same.
Angela also sought out hardware to match her unique door choice- and to get that wow factor. She ended up choosing the New York “C” Grip Entry Set in Antique Brass. The classic appeal of the Antique Brass finish looks great against the door’s Benjamin Moore Deep Royal color. Because the finish is not shiny, it gives a vintage yet timeless appearance.
Angela enjoyed learning about the details of door hardware while completing her front door update. She was unaware of the many options available to customize door hardware, including plate size, doorknob choices, and finish options. Additionally, Angela learned about the differences between square and round-edged strike plates, single- and double-cylinder deadbolts, and backset sizes- all essential details in selecting the proper hardware for any door.
When asked if she will use Nostalgic Hardware elsewhere in her home, Angela replied, “Absolutely! They are beautiful, great quality, and stand out from the other hardware I have purchased in the past. I’d love to eventually replace everything in my home with knobs from Nostalgic.”
