Style Q&A: The Bloom Project

Becca Bloom runs the Instagram account for @The.BloomProject and recently remodeled her kitchen. In the remodeling process, she decided to update the cabinet hardware to add class and sophistication. Follow along with our newest Style Q&A to learn more about Becca and her latest project.

What is your design style, and how do you incorporate it in your home?

My design style is definitely transitional. I love choosing timeless pieces that our family will have for a very long time while mixing in pieces that speak more to the current trends. I appreciate the balance of the two and love having a few pieces throughout the home to switch out each year. It helps the space feel updated and new!

Where do you find design inspiration?

Pinterest is my go-to for all things inspiration. I love finding a photo that draws me in and putting my own twist on it to really make our space unique. Studio McGee is a big inspiration for me, as well. They encompass everything I could ever dream of in our future home.

When starting a design project, how do you organize and plan for it?

I am a planner at heart, so this is one of my favorite parts of the entire process. I spend many months searching for inspiration and deciding on all of the little details. I have a Pinterest board for every room in my house so I can keep all of my thoughts in one spot. From there, my husband and I sit down and walk through the renovation project step by step to create a timeline so we can stay on track.

Did you do a remodel on your entire home? If so, were there specific rooms that were more challenging than others? Why

We are in the middle of remodeling our entire home right now. We just finished our kitchen, and that has been the most challenging project so far. We wanted to do everything ourselves: floors, repainting the cabinets, building the custom island, etc. It was extremely time-consuming but well worth it. Because we were able to do all of the work ourselves, we saved money to put towards the next room.

How long did this project take to complete?

Our kitchen took about three months to complete. A lot of this time was during the holidays, which meant we did not work as much during those weeks so we could spend time with friends and family

How did you choose the hardware featured in this project? What attracted you to Nostalgic Warehouse?

I have always been a lover of farmhouse style but wanted our home to be more on the transitional side of things. The Farmhouse Cup Pulls and Mission Cabinet Knobs were the perfect balance of modern and farmhouse.

Will you use this hardware again in other projects/areas of your home?

100% yes! This is hands down the best hardware we have ever used. The quality is far above any others, and the designs are so unique. We are a customer for life!

Did you learn any tips and tricks about cabinet hardware along the way that you think would be beneficial for others?

We refinished our cabinets, which meant we had existing holes from past hardware. We decided to choose hardware that was the same size, so we did not have to patch or drill new holes. This saved us so much time!

What are some recommendations for readers who want to do an extensive remodel project in their home? What are some tips for readers who wish to make a transformation to their entryway?

Take it one step at a time. Making a plan and a timeline is essential. Still, you have to understand that hiccups happen, and the chances of everything going perfectly is slim. Take each project on with a good attitude, and it will make the process much more enjoyable. Also, hire out projects that may not be your strong point to prevent extra stress. We realized that spending a few hundred dollars here and there on hiring contractors is worth saving us days of headaches.

Please give us some more details on The Bloom Project. How did you develop it, and what sets it apart from the rest?

We rebranded in early 2019 when we began renovations on our fixer upper. We love sharing behind the scenes photos and info for our projects. We also enjoy sharing the specifics of what we do and use.

What is next for you and your renovations and family?

We have moved on to renovating the back half of our house. This includes 2 bedrooms, 1 walk-in closet, our hallway, and bathroom. The first bedroom we are working on is the nursery for our baby girl who is due mid-May. Our goal is to have the rest of our renovations done by the end of April. There is a lot of work ahead of us before we welcome our first little one to the world. Wish us luck!
